Alternatively, you complete the test and later hear from your buddies that one of your friends cheated on the exam. What do you do? If you are feeling somewhat frustrated, confused, and powerless, welcome to the club. Almost all students have had to confront this situation at some point in their academic career whether in elementary, junior high school, high school, college, and yes, even graduate and professional school. Cheating is a sad reality and no matter how much we hate it, it will never go away. Thanks to the Internet and mobile phones and devices, cheating has not only become turbocharged by all sorts of online cheating resources but it has become easier to pull off. This is where you come in. How do you handle reports of friends cheating? What do you do about cheating that you are personally aware of? Before you decide, let’s make one thing clear here. Regardless of your motives for wanting to report the cheating, cheating is wrong. It shows moral weakness on the part of the people doing the cheating. It shows a sloppy attitude that should be corrected in bsn capstone project and now. What if that person continues to cheat his way through college then med school. How would you feel if the surgeon working on your kid cheated his way through school and medical board exams? How would you handle it if the lawyer handling your drunk driving case turned out to be an unrepentant lifelong plagiarist? Cheating is a serious offense and you should always follow your conscience. Even if your conscience got tricked into the trendy idea of ‘No Snitching’ you have to think about how the cheaters are harming themselves. Forget about the harm to others for a second (since this harm is very easy to see) and focus on the very real possibility that if you don’t report the cheaters, they will keep cheating until it blows up in their face later on. Also, you might be saving people in the future who might be victimized by the cheating mentality of these classmates of yours. Every action has big ripples. You might be doing these guys a favor by reporting them now and having them face the consequences of their action. Your reporting might get them the help or painful experience they need to reform themselves. Remember, just because it stings now doesn’t mean corrective action won’t help in the future. Almost every student can relate to this issue. At one point in your academic career, from kindergarten to college, you probably have had at least one teacher or professor who seemed to have had it out for you. If you haven’t found yourself in this predicament, consider yourself one of the lucky few. If you are currently dealing with a problematic professor, there are several approaches you can take in resolving the issue. Throughout the whole process, you have to have the right attitude. You are not looking for confontation, payback, or revenge. You are not trying to ‘win’ or ‘get one over’ your professor. Instead, you are looking to resolve an issue in an adult and responsible way. You have to focus on this because oftentimes, the issues get a bit too emotional and students take the issue very personally.
