BlackBeats.FM: Hallo Chrome Headz. Willkommen zum Interview mit einem der größten Radiostationen Deutschlands im BlackMusic Bereich. Geht es euch gut? Chrome Headz:Ja, uns geht es gut, danke. Wir hoffen euch auch. BlackBeats.FM: Wie habt ihr das Jahr 2011 überstanden? War es ein erfolgreiches Jahr für euch? Chrome Headz: 2011 war ein echte überraschendes Jahr. Anfang 2011 entstand das Legends & Diamonds Album, das war unser erfolgreichstes Projekt bis jetzt. Außerdem sind wir immer noch dabei andere Künstler zu produzieren und helfen anderen Producern ihre Produktionen zu verstärken. BlackBeats.FM: Was habt ihr im Jahr 2012 vor? Gibt es da etwas, was ihr besser machen wollt? Chrome Headz: Naja, das können wir wirklich nicht sagen, weil wir ständig an unseren Projekten arbeiten. So wie im Jahr 2011 Wir glauben nur an das Beste und hoffen, dass die Dinge gut verlaufen. BlackBeats.FM:Erzählt uns ein wenig von euch. Wie heißt ihr, wie entstand der Name “Chrome Headz“ und wie habt ihr zusammengefunden? Chrome Headz: Unsere wirklichen Namen sind David Hull und Darnell Coston. Wir sind beste Freunde seit wir kleine Kinder sind und wir fanden echt früh heraus, dass wir die Musik lieben. Wir rappten zu Ice cube , Naughty By Nature Beats und viele mehr. 1998 gründeten wir die Gruppe mit dem Namen C.H. "C" stand für Coston und das "H" stand für Hull, aber es war eine seltsame Erklärung, wenn die Leute uns danach fragten. Also wir setzten wir uns zusammen um einen echten Gruppennamen zu wähle und so entstand “Chrome Headz“. Im Slang bedeutet "Chrome" Chef des Rap-Games und "Headz" steht für sich BlackBeats.FM: Ihr habt mit dunklen, bedrohlichen Beats gestartet. Mittlerweile gehört ihr mehr zum Mainstream. Wie kam es zu diesem Wandel und wie würdet ihr euren Musikstil beschreiben? Chrome Headz: Wir wuchsen mit Untergrund-Rap-Musik auf, das ist der Grund, warum wir nicht den Mainstream-Sound wählten, aber früher oder später merkten wir, dass wir in der Lage sind, jede Art von Musik zu produzieren, sodass wir "Mainstream"-Sound mit Underground-Rap zu verbinden versuchten. Hört euch die neue Single "We do the g-Pop“ an und ihr wisst, was gut ist Unser Musikstil ist unvergleichlich, weil wir nicht einfach nur Musik produzieren, wir machen eigene Sounds, die ihr noch nie in der Branche gehört habt. Das erfordert harte Arbeit im Studio. BlackBeats.FM:Ihr habt ein eigenes Tonstudio und habt die kompletten Songs für das “Legends & Diamonds“- Album produziert, welches auch wir hier bei uns im Radio promotet haben. Wir war es für euch mit so vielen verschiedenen Künstlern zugleich zusammenzuarbeiten? Chrome Headz: Oh, das war die beste Erfahrung in unserer Karriere. Das ist ein Gefühl, das man mit keinem Geld der Welt kaufen kann. Wir haben so viel von den Künstlern gelernt und jede einzelne Person ist einzigartig. Einige Male hatten wir 14 -15 Stunden nur Aufnahme-Sessions gemacht und wir dachten, wir werden dies nicht überleben. Doch hört das euch Ergebnis an und spürt die Magie BlackBeats.FM: Euer neuer Track ”We do the g-pop”wurde nun veröffentlicht. Worum geht es in diesem Track? Wofür steht G-Pop? Chrome Headz: Dieser Track ist wirklich eine neue Ära / Stil der Musik, die im Laufe der Jahre geschaffen wurde. Wie wir bereits erläutert haben ist es ein neuer Mainstream-Sound mit Gangsta-Raps kombiniert. G-Pop steht für Gangsta-Pop. BlackBeats.FM: Das Musikgeschäft ist hart und erfordert ab und an auch Konkurrenzkämpfe. Gibt es für euch Producer deren Arbeit ihr total schätzt? Chrome Headz: Oh ja in der Tat - es gibt sehr viele Producer, wo wir denken, "Wie hat er dies und jenes gemacht?" Aber um ehrlich zu sein, hören wir uns kaum andere Beats an, weil wir unseren Stil halten wollen und nicht von anderen beeinflusst werden wollen. Wir wollen Vorbild für andere Producer sein BlackBeats.FM:Im Jahr 2010 gab es das Erdbeben in Haiti. Ihr habt den Song “Haitian Pain“ herausgebracht und habt viele Danksagungen von Bewohnern des Landes erhalten. Was bedeutet dieser Song für euch und was wolltet ihr damit vermitteln? Chrome Headz: Es ist ein Charity-Song für die Opfer. Wir wollten den Menschen in irgendeiner Art und Weise helfen, weil uns alle diese Situation berührt hat. Wir veröffentlichten das Lied in Zusammenarbeit mit mp3.de und schickten alle Einnahmen direkt in Haiti. Dies wurde zu einem der wichtigsten Songs aller Zeiten für uns, weil wir den armen Menschen halfen. Wie erhielten E-Mails direkt von dem haitianischen Volk und das machte uns mehr als stolz. Welcome to the interview with one of Germanys biggest radiostation in the black music genre. Are you okay? Chrome Headz: Yes we´re doing good thanks. Hope you guys doing good aswell BlackBeats.FM: How have you survived the year 2011? Was it a successful year for you? Chrome Headz: 2011 was a real surprising year. In the beginning of 2011 the Legends & Diamonds Album dropped which was our most successful project so far. Besides that we´re still producing other artists and creating construction loop sets which is a market to help out other producers to step up their production game. BlackBeats.FM: What did you made for 2012? Is there anything that you want do better? Chrome Headz: Well, we really can´t say better because we´re constantly working on our projects. So was in 2011 We just hope for the best that things work out. BlackBeats.FM: Tell us something about you. Whats your name, how does the name Chrome Headz”formed and how did you found together? Chrome Headz: Our real names are David Hull and Darnell Coston. We´re best friends since we´re lil kids and we found out real early that we got love for the music. We rapped over ice cube, naughty by nature beats and many more. Back in 98 we actually started off as the group called C.H. "C" stands for Coston and the "H" stands for Hull but it was a weird explanation when people asked us about it So we sat down, we had to come up with a real group name and sooner or later "Chrome Headz" popped up. In the slang dictionary "Chrome" means leader of the rap game and "Headz" stands for itself BlackBeats.FM: You have started with dark, menacing beats. Meanwhile it belongs more to the mainstream. How did it came to this change and how would you describe your music style? ChromeHeadz: We grew up with underground rap music so thats the reason why we didnt like the mainstream sound but sooner or later we realized that we´re be able to produce every style of music so we tried to combine "mainstream" sound with underground rap. Listen to the new single "We do the g-pop" and you know wuzz good Our music style is uncomparable because we dont just produce music we program our own sounds which you never heard in the industry before and that requires hard work in the studio. BlackBeats.FM: You have your own recording studio and have produced the complete songs for the legends & diamonds album, which we have also promoted here at our radiostation. How was it for you to work together with so many artists at the same time? ChromeHeadz: Oh that was the best experience in our career. this is a feeling which you cant buy with all the money in the world. We´ve learned so much from those artists and every single person is one of a kind. Some times we had 14 -15 h of recording sessions and we thought we´re not going to survive this but hear the result and feel the magic BlackBeats.FM: Your new track ”We do the g-pop” has now been published. What is this track about? What do you mean with g-pop? ChromeHeadz: This track is actually a new era/style of music which has been created during the years. As we explained earlier it´s a new mainstream sound combined with gangsta raps. G-pop stands for Gangsta-Pop. BlackBeats.FM: The music business is hard and requires a few rivalries. Are there for you producers which work you totally estimate? ChromeHeadz: Oh yes indeed - there are tons of producers outthere where we think like "how did he do this and that" But to be honest with you, we´re not listening to that much music becuase we want to keep our style and not be influenced by others. We want to be role models for other producers BlackBeats.FM: In 2010 was the earthquake in Haiti. You have released the song ”Haitian pain” and became many acknowledgements of the inhabitations of the country. What does this song means for you and what do you wanted to convey? ChromeHeadz: It is a charity song for the victims. We wanted to help them people in some kind of way because this situation touched all of us. We released this song in collaboration with mp3.de and sent all the income straight to haiti. This became one of the most important songs ever to us because we helped them poor people a bit and received emails directly from haitian people and that makes us more then proud.
