BlackBeats.FM: Hallo Inusa Dawuda! Willkommen zum Interview mit BlackBeats.FM, Deutschlands Webradiostation für Hip Hop & Black Music. Wie geht es dir?

Inusa Dawuda: Hi BlackBeats.FM!

Doch deine Musik klingt immer total sommerlich. Warum hast du gerade jetzt deinen Song “Happy Birthday“ veröffentlicht?

BlackBeats.FM Mit welchen Künstlern würdest du gerne an neuen Songs arbeiten?

Es geht back to the roots.

BlackBeats.FM: Hello Inusa Dawuda! Welcome to the interview with BlackBeats.FM, Germanys webradiostation for Hip Hop & Black Music. How are you?

Inusa Dawuda: Hi Blackbeats.FM of Germany, I´ll say "I feel good" like the title of a song of one of my mentors James Brown :-) and thank you for showing such an interest in me.

BlackBeats.FM: What kind of artist is behind Inusa Dawuda?

Inusa Dawuda: The artist behind "Inusa Dawuda" is a passionate musician and music lover who performs as vocalist, saxophonist and composer right under his birth name "Inusa Dawuda".

BlackBeats.FM: You are also well known under the name "Black Pharaoh". What is the meaning behind that?

Inusa Dawuda: First of all I´m fascinated by ancient Egypt . Since my childhood about from the elementary school time until now people like that I take over responsibilities like leader duties and so on.
I don´t go in for it because I was educated to be humble but others think and feel they are comfortable with to see me at the lead. Friends also use to call me Lion King because my astrological signs is Leo. Years ago the mother of fellow musician who never saw or really heard of me before saw me for the first time. The first thing she said was Inusa is a King. Everyone around was astonished because they already knew of my kingship. At the same time there was a lot of laughs. A similar thing like this happened one day on a sunny beach where I met a family with their twin girls of about 6 year of age and they also said to their parents pointing to me "this man might be a king".. every time I felt honoured of course:-).. and because of my fascination for ancient Egypt and a book of novel author Christian
Jacq a friend found in my home they started calling me "The Black Pharaoh" like the novel. But maybe I am a re-enacarnation of the Nubian Pharaoh Piankhi who ruled about 750 BCE

BlackBeats.FM: Your kind of music belongs to the house music genre and has been supported of well-known artists, such as Bob Sinclair, and Paul Oakenfold. How did these collaborations emerged?

Inusa Dawuda: I had no direct collaboration with these artist but I received supports from them by playing my tracks. Especially Eric Morillo. He signed a track which I performed on his label Subliminal. A cover of Richie Haven´s "Going Back To My Roots" which was one of his favourites. He likes to drop it on his sets.
Also some other tracks I am involved in appears on playlist of the mentioned artist and many others.

BlackBeats.FM In 2009-2010 you has been very celebrated with your song "Rumors Digi Digi" and had great success. Particularly in Russia, the song was played more than songs by artists such as Lady Gaga and David Guetta along. What connects you with the country Russia and why did you have there so much success?

Inusa Dawuda: I can´t really explain why I had such huge success in Russia and the former Soviet
countries but this does not only apply to this territory or the song "Rumours Digi Digi". I had a couple of hits which were huge in other territories but were not honoured in others. Sometimes it has to do with the record labels who are not able or capable top buzz a release globally or at times it is has to do with regional tastes. For example my first hit in the house music genre was "Morning Light" released in
2001 by Clubland and later BMG. It started catching fire in Italy then France and finally Spain. Later a wonderful Chillout version appeared on Café Del mar Vol 8
I also had a track named "Life Is Love" in 2007 which was also about 10 months in the Brazilian top 10 charts.
"Down Down Down" ruled the Beatport sale charts with many air plays in Italy and Eastern Europe.
And even a Garge -style track for the UK "Let´s Do It".
Apart of the pop-style mainstream house tunes I am also involved in clubby
underground tracks or mixes of mainstream version which are doing well different parts of the world. Now coming to your question what connects me with Russia. Russians simply love my songs. Almost all my releases receive good air and club plays over there. It started with the track "Morning Light", “Life Is Love "Down Down Down" before "Rumours Digi
Digi"
which air plays was ahead of aired champs like Lady Gaga or David Guetta in that period. As a result of this success I toured Russia a lot and the C.I.S territory, I experienced hospitality made a lot of friends. I also met my beautiful and lovely wife during these tours. Our wedding was just 4 days ago :-) 01. November 2013

BlackBeats.FM: Through which countries have you traveled during your music business?

Inusa Dawuda: I have travelled to the U.S, U.K, Turkey, Belgium, Spain, France, Italy, Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Moldova, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland Hungary, Croatia, Cyprus, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, Morocco,Thailand and also many towns in my home base Germany.

BlackBeats.FM: The winter is coming. However, your music sounds totally summerlike. Why did you now released your song "Happy Birthday"?

Insua Dawuda: Whatever I do music-wise turns out to be sunny or summer-like like you pointed out. So I can´t help, it lies in my blood and vocals and I think I´m fortunate for that. Every single day on earth someone has a birthday, whether winter or summer. This as sure as eggs in eggs so why should I wait with the release?. I think this a good
tool for every Radio station to please their listeners as well as every DJ´s and almost everyone. . And I think spreading summer vibes in winter is a blessing you can give and your listeners will appreciate... not a bad idea.

BlackBeats.FM Whit which artists would you like to work together on new songs?

Inusa Dawuda: I like working with any talented artist or producer in different genre. So I favour not only big names and . As long as the chemistry and vibe between us is right I am in for that.
On my past albums you will find tunes that are more R&B and funk licked than house so you see I´m versatile "Afrofunky"

BlackBeats.FM: Since when do you find time for music? What else would you have done if it had not worked with your music career?

Inusa Dawuda: I started learning Saxophone and dealing with music seriously at a late age when some are already on the peak of their music career. Yes, I started learning an instrument at 18.
I had a vocational school training as building Draughtsman but never worked in this profession. I was also deep into sports....I was a heavyweight champ of amateur boxing of my town of Hamburg ! If I wold´nt be a musician I can´t really say what I will be doing now. I have worked in many different professions before I took music as full time profession or vice-versa . I worked in the docks, as a waiter and bartender , sales
man, taxi driver. Export manager for a firm and also owned my own Import & Export company.

BlackBeats.FM: Which news or future plans you can already tell us?

Inusa Dawuda: I´m working on a personal Album. This will be a little different from what most people already know about me. Something back to the roots. With more Afro, Funk and Reggae licked style but still easy going and positive. I´m also writing and working on different variation of songs that maybe accepted as official song for the forthcoming FIFA world cup in Brazil next year.

BlackBeats.FM: Thanks for the informative interview. We wish you all the best for the future. The last word is yours!

Inusa Dawuda: Thank you so much for the interest you have shown in me and my work and keep it up with the good vibes on BlackBeats.Fm...

Danke schön und One love.
