 BlackBeats.FM: Hallo Ahmir! Willkommen zum Interview mit Deutschlands größtem Webradio Blackbeats.fm. Wie geht’s euch?Ahmir: Alles bestens, Blackbeats.fm. Wir lieben Deutschland und freuen uns daher auf das Interview. BlackBeats.FM: Erzählt uns doch mal kurz was über euch. Ahmir: So Leute hier ist Big Mike. Steht auf! Ich bin der Kerl, der eher wie ein Amerikanischer Footballspieler oder Bodyguard aussieht und weniger wie ein Mitglied der Gruppe. LOL. Viele denken, ich bin ein Rapper. Aber ich kann langsame Lieder singen, wie kein anderer. Ich bin der große Teddy der Gruppe, welcher von den Ladies geliebt wird! Hey, Sing-Sing hier! Manchmal werde ich mit T-Pain verglichen, wegen meinen Dreadlocks! Ich verbreite Stimmung bei uns! Bin ein Energiebündel, da ich es liebe zu tanzen und zu performen. Vorallem in Deutschland! Mein Idol ist Michael Jackson. Hier ist KC! Zusätzlich zum singen bin ich ein Teilzeitmodel. Ich verleihe uns also Style und Sex-Appeal. Und als letzter, Mr. Jones! Ich sehe eher aus wie ein R´n´B Sänger, aber in Wirklichkeit bin ich unser „Undercover Rapper“. Ich rappe in unseren Songs und viele sagen, ich höre mich an wie LL Cool J! BlackBeats.FM: 2002 wurde Ahmir gegründet. Wie kam es dazu? Ahmir: Wir alle fanden irgendwie unseren Weg nach Boston durch die Schule oder Jobs usw. Einer von uns kommt aus Harlem, New York ( Big Mike), einer aus Philadelphia, PA ( Sing-Sing), einer aus Rochester, NY (KC) und nur einer von uns aus Bosten, MA (Mr.Jones). Als einige der Spitzenvokalisten in Boston, stolperten wir alle grundsätzlich auf einander wegen unserer Talente. Der Rest ist Geschichte… BlackBeats.FM: Was bedeutet der Name „Ahmir“? Und wieso habt ihr ihn ausgesucht? Ahmir: Der Name „Ahmir“ bedeutet Prinz auf Arabisch. Als erstes wollten wir uns „One Luv“ nennen, aber wir merkten schnell, dass das nichts Spezielles war, also änderten wir es zu etwas Einzigartigerem und Denkwürdigem. Wir sind die Prinzen des R´n`B, also ist „Ahmir“ perfekt! BlackBeats.FM: Wie lange habt ihr an eurem Album „The Gift“ gearbeitet? Und was ist der Weg zum Erfolg? Ahmir: Wir arbeiteten ungefähr ein Jahr an unserem Album. Wir schrieben alle Lieder selbst und produzierten sogar einige davon. Viele sehr talentierte Produzenten waren auch auf dem Album. Es hat sehr viel Spaß gemacht, das Album aufzunehmen, die Bilder für das Cover zu machen und zu sehen wie das alles Gestalt annahm. Wir sind damit SEHR glücklich! „The Gift“ wurde über tausend Mal weltweit verkauft und stand fast in jedem Musikladen. Das Album repräsentiert sehr gut unsere Musik und das lieben unsere Fans! Wir können es kaum abwarten, unser nächstes Album zu veröffentlichen! BlackBeats.FM: Wer oder was hat euch auf eurem Weg beeinflusst? Ahmir: Künstler wie Jamie Foxx, Prince, Beyonce, Day 26, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Jonas Brothers, Akon, T-Pain, Boyz II Men, Jodeci, Jagged Edge. Grundsätzlich alle R´n´B/Pop Sänger. BlackBeats.FM: Was denkt ihr über BlackBeats.FM? Mögt ihr Webradios? Ahmir: Wir lieben BlackBeats.FM! Wir haben viele deutsche Anhänger und DJ´s , die uns über BlackBeats erzählt haben und wir sind daher sehr froh eure Unterstützung zu haben! Webradiostationen sind großartig, weil normale Radiosender nicht immer die heißen R´n´B und Hip Hop Songs spielen. BlackBeats.FM: Wenn ihr an Deutschland denkt, was kommt euch da in den Sinn? Ahmir: Wie denken an erstaunliche und großartige Fans und gute Clubs. BlackBeats.FM: Ward ihr schon Mal in Deutschland? Ahmir: Ja, wir tourten bereits zwei Mal durch Deutschland! Wir waren in Berlin, Köln, Düsseldorf, Bremen, Kaiserlautern, Frankfurt, etc. Auch in Österreich waren wir! Wir lieben Deutschland und können es kaum erwarten wieder auf Tour zu gehen! BlackBeats.FM: Würdet ihr gerne Mal mit einer Sängerin zusammenarbeiten? Oder gibt es bereits einige Pläne? Ahmir: Ja, wir würden gerne Mal mit Beyonce zusammenarbeiten! Wir planen bereits ein neues Album und eine neue Tour! Also seid gespannt! BlackBeats.FM: Dankeschön, für das nette Interview. Wir wünschen euch alles Gute für die Zukunft. Welcome to the interview with germanys biggest webradiostation in the BlackMusic Genre. How are you? Ahmir: What's good BlackBeats!! We love Germany and are so happy about doing this interview with y'all! BlackBeats.FM: Tell us a little bit about you! Ahmir: This is Big Mike... representin' Harlem! Stand up! I'm the dude who looks like an American football player and looks more like our body guard than a member of the group... LOL. If anything, people think I'm a rapper. However, I can sing slow songs like it’s nobody’s business and I have a great falsetto you swore came from a little guy. I guess you can say I'm the big teddy bear of the group that the ladies love! Sing-Sing here in the building! I sometimes get confused with T-pain because of my dreadlocks! I definitely bring that energy to the group. I love dancing and performing and I LOVE PERFORMING IN GERMANY! My idol is Michael Jackson! This is KC! In addition to singing, I am a part-time model. So I bring that style and sexiness to the group! Last, but not least, this is Mr. Jones! I probably look the most like an R&B singer, but in addition to singing I'm an undercover rapper that does all of the raps in our songs and people think I sound like LL Cool J! BlackBeats.FM: 2002 Ahmir was formed. How did you come to a group together? Ahmir: We all somehow found our way to Boston through school or jobs, etc. One of us came from Harlem, New York (Big Mike), another from Philadelphia, PA (Sing-Sing), one from Rochester, NY (KC) and only one of us is from Boston, MA (Mr.Jones). As some of the top vocalists in Boston, we all basically stumbled upon one another because of our talents. We each were like “Hey, you’re a dope singer, wanna form a group?” And the rest is history! BlackBeats.FM: What does „Ahmir“ means? And why do you choose it? Ahmir: The name "AHMIR" means prince in Arabic. We used to be first called "One Luv" a long time ago, but we realized the name wasn't anything special so we wanted to change it to something more unique and memorable. We believed we were the princes of R&B so "AHMIR" was perfect! BlackBeats.FM: How long have you work on the debut album „THE GIFT“? And what is the road to success? Ahmir: We worked on "The Gift" for about a year. We wrote all the songs ourselves and even produced a couple of them too. Alot of very talented and upcoming producers were on the album too. It was alot of fun recording the album, gettingthe pictures done for the cover and seeing how it all took shape and came together. We are VERY happy with it! “The Gift” sold thousands all around the world and was available in almost every major record store. The album is really a great representation of our music and we got to put in everything we wanted and our fans LOVED it! We can't wait to release our next album! BlackBeats.FM: Who or what have you on your way influenced? Ahmir: Artists like Jamie Foxx, Prince, Beyonce, Day 26, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Jonas Brothers, Akon, T-Pain, Boyz II Men, Jodeci, Jagged Edge.. and basically all the great R&B/pop performers and soul singers have helped influence us. BlackBeats.FM: What do you think about BlackBeats.FM? Do you like webradiostations? Ahmir: We love BlackBeats.FM! We have many German fans and DJ's who have told us about BlackBeats and we are very glad to have your support! Web radio stations are great, because regular radio now doesn't always play the hottest R&B and Hip Hop! BlackBeats.FM: What came to your mind when you think about Germany? Ahmir: We think of AMAZING fans and great clubs to perform in! BlackBeats.FM: Have you ever been in Germany ? Or do you plan to come to Germany? Ahmir: YES, we toured 2 times in Germany! We were in Berlin, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Bremen, Kaiserslauten, Frankfurt, etc. We went to Austria too! We love Germany and can't wait to go back on tour! Ahmir: Yes, we would love to work with Beyonce! We're planning a new record deal, a new album, and a new tour! Be on the look out for big things from AHMIR real soon!!
